Marble

Marble is a natural stone metamorphic rock that may be foliated or non-foliated. It is created naturally by recrystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite or dolomite.  Geologists use the term “marble” to refer to metamorphosed limestone; however, stonemasons use the term more broadly to encompass un-metamorphosed limestone. Marble is commonly used for sculpture and as a building material. Marble is timeless for your walls and floors, creating everlasting beauty and authenticity in your spaces. Marble has become the stone of the future as more people are switching to marble. We supply all marble in forms of tiles, slabs and claddings.

MARBLE TILES OFFER A SUPERB NATURAL ALTERNATIVE FOR MANY APPLICATIONS. WITH A WIDE VARIETY TO CHOOSE FROM, A NATURAL MARBLE TILE CAN CREATE A STUNNING FLOOR OR WALL AND WE HOLD SUBSTANTIAL STOCK FOR IMMEDIATE DELIVERY.

Marble is a metamorphic rock formed from carbonate rocks such as limestone, the temperature and pressures of the process transform the crystal structure to produce a hard material, with an almost translucent appearance at the surface when polished. This makes marble one of the most attractive naturals stones used in construction and its beauty has been recognised for thousands of years, with many ancient buildings utilising it for decorating walls and floors in a tile format.

Impurities present during the formation of the rock lead to the characteristic veining present in many marbles although some may have a more uniform colour. The colour of marble can vary considerably, from pure white to jet black, with a whole rainbow of colours in-between.

Marble is a natural product so can vary considerably in shade and markings.  This is the appeal of this material but it is important to discuss your requirements before deciding as it is important to select the correct material for your particular application. We keep considerable stock of marble in a wide selection of colours, sizes and finishes and shown above are our more popular ranges.  We can also produce tiles in special sizes and finishes and we can produce matching marble tops in many of the examples shown.  We can also supply matching skirting tiles for many of the marbles illustrated here.

It should be remembered that marble is a natural material and as such will vary sometimes quite considerably from batch to batch.

We are happy to send samples at no charge however they are representative only. It is often preferable for us to send images of current stock.

Types of surface finish

There are several surface finishes available

Polished
The most popular option as it gives classical elegance and enhances the natural beauty of the marble

Honed
A smooth satin finish

Brushed
A textured surface that varies with the hardness of the material and the degree of brushing

Tumbled
Distressed to create a time worn traditional appearance

We have been importing and distributing marble tiles for many years and hold substantial stock. We select our tiles very carefully to ensure they are the best available.
